Illustrations and visual storytelling
My name is Noora Katto and I’m a Finnish illustrator and graphic designer based in Tampere. Thanks for visiting my website!
I have been primarily working within children’s culture, providing illustrations (and design services) for literature (mainly children’s books), school materials, and various youth-centered initiatives.
Over the past 18 years, my career has spanned a wide range of clients, from small organizations and local agencies to governmental bodies and large international corporations. The majority of my work has been in collaboration with leading Finnish publishers.
My work is often character-driven, built on small everyday observations, emotional moments, and interesting details. With a bit of edge, of course. While my focus is often to keep young readers engaged, I love adding things that resonate with adults, too. I am particularly drawn to projects and people aiming to make a positive difference in the world.
Among other projects, I have two ongoing children’s book series: Viisi Villiä Virtasta (written by Anneli Kanto) and Hirveä series (written by Vuokko Hurme).
I also run my own design studio, Nooma Creative, where I get to focus on product design and a curated range of illustrated goods. Anything from prints, stationery and stickers to jewelry. Naturally, you’ll also find my illustrated books there!
You can also find me and my work at various exhibitions and events from time to time. Occasionally I visit schools and libraries to introduce or showcase the craft of illustration, often to younger audiences.
While my schedule is quite packed for 2026, I’m open minded towards all creative projects so don’t be afraid to contact me!
